Tucked beneath the trees in historic Okara Lakes, 'Perry's Place' is a distinctive 1921 seasonal camp with more than a century of Adirondack history behind it. Featured in Adirondack Life: At Home in the Adirondacks 2022, Rustic Style, the property was identified as a Magonigle-designed camp and highlighted for its striking architecture, original character, and connection to the surrounding woods.

Okara Lakes traces its beginnings to 1920, when the de Camp family began developing the area through Ga-Wan-Ka as a private Adirondack vacation community. Noted architect H. Van Buren Magonigle helped shape its early design vision, which included Japanese-inspired cottages with distinctive rooflines.

The beginnings of this community of private camps are now commemorated by a William G. Pomeroy Foundation historic marker.
