10 acres on a ridge in Freedom, bounded on three sides by hundreds of acres of conserved land. Extraordinarily private while still centrally located—30 minutes to Belfast and 30 minutes to Augusta. This special piece of land sits on the high point of a ridge, with the potential for beautiful views after some clearing.
It was farmed as recently as the 1970s and has since grown back with predominantly young birches. The potential for a homestead/farm is strong, with soils classified as prime farmland. Septic design is already available. Despite being selectively logged roughly 20 years ago, the property still has plenty of mature mixed hardwoods and pine.
Scattered throughout are a couple dozen apple trees, rock walls, an old stone foundation, and a deep hand-dug well. There is a seasonal stream meandering through small pools along the property. There is also a small clearing that has grown up with brush and can be transformed into a grassy field with a little elbow grease.
Property was surveyed in 2021, and a driveway is already in place. The boundaries are clearly flagged and the corner pins are easily visible, in part because the property borders land owned by Midcoast Conservancy. Come walk the freshly made trails, explore the old stone walls and sample the apples, or watch the video to get a feel for this special piece of land. Video here:
