The project was recognized by the Louisville Historical League for its ability to complement its historic surroundings. David Biagi was native of Shelbyville who studied at the University of Cincinnati, practiced with Gwathmey Siegel & Associates in New York, and returned to practice and serve as Director of the School of Architecture at the UK College of Design.
